Born in Northern Ontario Canada, Lerand started life as many others would. He grew up in a small city, went to school and eventually found his way to Montreal in Quebec attending classes to become a classical French chef. After he finished school he started working in a kitchen, slowly rising up until he was a sous chef with a dream of becoming a head chef in his own restaurant. Sadly this was not meant to happen as the Knox Event caused his plans to go to ruin. During the first few months he stuck with his follow Canadians until they had an outbreak of the virus in their midst causing them all the disperse. Lerand was not a survivor in the begining, his time as a chef meant his skills did not lend themselves to killing zombies or fighting off raiders and bandits. The only solace he had was that the little food he could find could be turned into a passable meal. This too was not to last as once the winter came he was left alone, cold, and starving, eating what little was left from others. The scraps soon expired as well and eventually Lerand turned to eating rotten and discarded food, suffering illnesses from the thing he ate to survive. It was then that spring finally came and Lerand made his way south, knowing that he he did, at least the freezing cold would not be as deadly as it was in the north. This was how he made his way to Knox County, on accident.
As Lerand passed through the former city he found himself calling for help on the radio after a bad encounter and was picked up by a group called UC, where he settled in as the head cook for the settlement. Though Lerand was a competent chef the journey he faced to get there left him a bit broken in his own way, no longer did he think about what was happening outside of his kitchen, not even the gunshots or zombies could turn his gaze. This continued on for a while as time passed and the safety of the group slowly helped make him more comfortable, he went outside to farm, he set up traps and fished, and he made friends with a few select people. Denys, a man from Europe who brought him outside to look around the county. Mia, a deaf girl with skills in cooking that he lacked. Leroy, a gun nut who always brought in food to be cooked. Josh, a fisher who always had the best catches. Benny, the one who helped build his room and expand his kitchen. All these people and more helped him slowly recover from his past scars and open up ever so slowly. This would of continued if it was not for the events that lead to the escape.
The UN decided to take actions in Knox, their soldiers blew ip bridges, built walls, caused chaos and eventually required that the people left in Knox must leave before the dead drawn in by the UN would overrun everything. A plane ride was talked about, a city in the north sending transport to those stuck in the county. It was on this plane that Lerand escaped, the first flight out with bags full of cooking supplies, filled to the brim with delicacies from traders coming through. After the planes finished bringing them to safety.
Lerand set about to building his own restaurant, becoming a head chef and using the skills he learned to delight the people of this new city. He spends most of his days now thinking of new ways to cook the things that people bring in, always making sure that he makes the best dishes possible and ensuring that those who come to him always leave satisfied.
