Beth Pope / Darlene Fancy

Post by Acrestomb »

Darlene Fancy spent most of her life trying to run from her problems, in an attempt to leave her old life and the crimes she committed in the past, she hopped on a train and changed her name to Beth Pope before making her way to Knox County where she was plunged into a chaos worse than she could have ever imagined.

In the pouring rain, Beth drove as far as she could through the farmlands until she saw a lonely house that looked safe. Maxine, a woman too kind for her own good, took her in.

Not long after, a man named Vic appeared, confronting both Maxine and Beth as they encountered him in a field. The look of instinct he had as he stared down the barrel of his gun and into Beth’s terrified eyes told her exactly what kind of man he was. Maxine managed to calm him and invited him into their home for a meal.

Beth’s fear of Vic only grew further as he revealed his past to her, he admitted to being a convicted murderer and told her that he was going to leave before the rest found out. Despite her initial impression of him, she recognized the pain he was hiding, a pain that echoed her own fears of being cast aside if anyone were to find out about her own past.

Fearing he might harm her now that she knew his secret, she wrote him a letter, telling him to meet her in the barn. She promised to keep his secret, on the condition that he would keep hers.

Beth told him about her life, she told him her real name, how she too had murdered in order to escape from a group of bad people she had been running with, and how she believed no one would ever accept her if they knew about the things she’s done. Vic promised that he wouldn’t leave her as she was the only person who could understand him, and he was the only person who could understand her.

From that moment on their pasts binded them forever.

Despite her anxieties and doubts about being fit for this world, Vic always reassured her she had a purpose, and together they found their purpose was for each other.
